The Northern Commons is located in Lowertown, downtown Saint Paul. Here's everything you need to find us.
Finding the space
Look for the door marked "308" — that's your starting point. From there, follow the "Northern Commons" signs to the elevator or take the stairs. We're on the second floor.
The building is old and has lots of hallways, so finding the space can feel a little like a scavenger hunt the first time — but we promise you'll get there.
Tip: The star on the map below marks the door, not the center of the building. Head for the entrance on the east side.
Parking
Parking is plentiful, but not all of the options are obvious at first glance. Here's what you need to know:
There's metered street parking throughout Lowertown. The Prince Street and Kellogg Street meters are the least expensive and closest to us. Meters are typically enforced Monday through Saturday and free on Sundays.
$0.75 / hourMeters on Broadway and surrounding blocks are more expensive and have a 2-hour time limit. Fine for a short visit, but watch the clock.
$2.50 / hour · 2 hr limitSeveral surface lots are within a short walk of the Commons. These are often the least expensive and easiest parking options. We recommend:
D1 Lot · D2 Lot · Union Depot Lot C
Lowertown is well-served by public transit, and bike racks are available nearby. If you're coming by bus, train, or bike, you're in good company.
Paying for parking
If you're parking on the street, the easiest way to pay is with the Passport Parking App. All meters in Lowertown use it (as do the D1 and D2 lots), and it lets you pay — and extend your time — from your phone.
Important: Make sure to use parking zone 651 before you enter the space number.
Available on the App Store and Google Play. Search for "Passport Parking" or scan the QR code on any meter.
A heads up
Lowertown has a lot going on, and when there are major downtown events, parking can be a bit of a puzzle (and sometimes an expensive one). We keep an eye on the calendar and try not to schedule Commons events when parking is especially tricky.
